Text of the illustration above: The Israeli artist and VJ Safy Sniper aka Safy Etiel (born 1960) moved to Berlin in 1987. He discovered the new video technology for himself and was one of the first to start projecting and manipulating club projections live.
The technique he used was a repetition of people's movements. The figures in the film moved forwards and backwards to the respective music.
These somewhat jerky movements expressed a ghost like momentum that was at the same time rather rhythmic. Thus, clubbers were not only put into a trance by new rhythms - the visual became a new important medium in Berlin's clubs. Due to these club installations Safy later became, among others, invited to the ARS Electronica and the Biennale for Contemporary Music in Tel Aviv.
